Unlock the power of mind, body and soul

Our world is a fascinating contradiction. Technology grants instant connection, yet isolation seems to deepen.
Have you ever wondered how can you unlock and reset your body and soul, in our fast phased lives?
This short article written by Gitika Kapur, an International Hatha Yoga Teacher & practitioner will help you understand the benefits of yoga in restoring balance in your life.

We're surrounded by material comfort, yet inner peace feels increasingly elusive. We prioritize physical fitness, but often neglect the well-being of our inner selves. In this quest for balance, countless fitness trends emerge. But research reveals a deeper truth: mind and body are not separate entities. Yoga, with its rich history, offers a powerful solution. It's a practical system that cultivates physical strength, mental clarity, and a sense of spiritual connection – a holistic approach to true health.

So, have you wondered where did yoga come from?

From the ancient land of India emerges a timeless gift – Yoga. Adiyogi- ‘the first yogi’, who shared the secrets of yoga with the Saptarishis -his seven disciples. It is the Saptarishis who spread this knowledge across the world. According to yogic scriptures, Adiyogi imparted 112 ways, or "upasayas," for individuals to understand the secrets of uniting mind, body, and soul through movement and breath. Yoga, then, is not just a series of postures; it's a comprehensive path to well-being, a legacy passed down through generations.

Purpose of Yoga

Today, Yoga has become one of the fastest-growing wellness practices in the past decade. Worldwide, approximately 300 million people regularly practice yoga. As we understand now, one of the main goals of yoga is to achieve tranquillity of the mind and create a sense of well-being. It is an ancient practice that goes far beyond just physical postures (asanas). It's a holistic approach to well-being that combines physical movement, breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation to cultivate a sense of calmness and inner peace. The purpose of Yoga is to reduce the noise created by the mind. If we try to create a positive environment in our mind, with the base of our life being positive and strong, we can face every challenge.

Yoga for ALL:

Yoga is for Everyone. The beauty of yoga is its adaptability. Numerous yoga styles suit different fitness levels, interests, and goals. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned athlete, there's a yoga practice waiting for you. Regular practices of asana maintain the physical body in an optimum condition and promotes health even in an unhealth body. Its benefits extend far beyond the physical. This holistic practice isn't confined by age; it's a journey for everyone. Whether you're a curious child, a blossoming teenager, a young adult seeking balance, or a seasoned senior citizen, yoga offers a path to well-being at every stage of life.

Here are a few popular styles to get you started:

Hatha Yoga: A gentle introduction to yoga postures and breathing techniques, that anybody can incorporate.

Vinyasa Yoga: A more dynamic style that flows from one pose to another, suitable for those seeking a physical challenge.

Yin Yoga: A passive practice focusing on holding gentle postures for extended periods to increase flexibility and mindfulness.

Restorative Yoga: A relaxing style that uses props like bolsters and blankets to support the body in restful postures, ideal for stress relief.

In whatever position one is in, or in whatever condition in life one is placed, one must find balance.

Balance is the state of the present – the here and now. If you balance in the present, you are living in Eternity. —B.K.S. Iyengar
