India Day 2023

India Day - Celebrating India-Finland Friendship

Intia-päivä or India Day is an annual one-day flagship event showcasing the richness of Indian culture and presenting the vibrant tapestry of India’s heritage since 2016.  The first two editions of India Day were held at the Cable Factory in Helsinki that saw a participation of 3000 to 4000 persons. In 2018 & 2019, India Day was organized at an outdoor venue, in the popular and centrally located Kaisaniemi Park in Helsinki. In December 2021, the India Day team organized the event in the form of “India@75 Concert” - a first of its kind collaboration between Indian and Finnish artists, at the prestigious Finlandia Hall, to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence. The sixth edition took place on Sunday 21st August 2022 in the heart of Helsinki at the Kaisaniemi Park and welcomed over 25000 visitors. This India day 2023, we are expecting an even larger audience and it is an amazing opportunity for our visitors to explore cultural exhibits, take part in yoga sessions, sample exquisite traditional Indian cuisine, and engage in interactive activities! Stay tuned for an exciting line-up of performers, including musicians and dancers, who will take the stage to share their talents.

Every year India Day is celebrated with the objective of

  • Bringing India and Finland closer – through art, culture and business.
  • Celebrating the essence of India, colorful India.
  • Highlighting Indo-Finnish collaborations – a celebration of friendship.
  • Gratitude – An event to say a “thank you” to Finland for giving the Indian community a comfortable home away from home
